Love the place you live. TruCity helps you learn about your area, talk about its issues, and get involved.

What is the theme?

The theme was a keyhole, an invitation to think about something that is locked. To us, it meant restricted access to something, and in terms of government, this meant expanded access in the form of increased Civic Engagement.

What is Civic Engagement?

Civic engagement is any point of entry to link people with government. This might be in the form of voting, of contacting a representative or a member of the city staff, of serving on a board or volunteering, or simply learning more about events in the community. There are many challenges to Civic Engagement – lack of accessibility, apathy, lack of time, and difficulty in finding information.

What do people expect of government?

People expect government to be responsive, honest, easy to understand and navigate, transparent, and invested in their personal success. Bureaucracy is a primary barrier to this, so we searched for a way to get around it to expand access and add value to our users.

What’s the solution?

There are many ideas and no panaceas, but we believe that starting with a centralized solution is paramount to adding value to users. TruCity is a website that provides an easy access point to learn about government, speak about issues, and do more to get involved.
