How can we help foreigners to have a better experience at public health services?

We are wondering what is the experience when foreigners get public health services. Are they able to communicate in their language? Do they feel safe and supported or by the contrary they find language barriers that make them feel frustrated and lost?

As an example we decided to improve the experience of pregnant women in labour when they have to give birth in an environment that is not their home-country and in a language that is not their mother tongue.

To get an insight on the topic, we went out on the street and made a small research anong pregnant women. In general, they agreed that any kind of additional information in a form of a booklet would be very useful, since they often feel confused and misinformed. One among the interviewed women was a proffesional (a physiotherapist) who pointed out that in her opinion, women would urgently need more information.
