Map My Move (formerly Update me! my.GOV.UK)

Quickly check which public services you need to update or change when you move house.

11 June 2015

Having realised how similar our idea was to one of groups' attending GovJam Leeds we briefly tried to think outside of the box and came up with a concept of a prototype of office where caffeine is pumped through the ventilation system in order to keep public sector workers energetic and committed at all times! Unfortunately as we would not have enough time for user research we only pivoted our original idea slightly.

Using Map My Move you can enter your current address and the location you are moving to (or drag & drop on a map). Based on where your new home is you will see which public services you will need to update with the new information or re-register with.

You can submit the changes to selected organisations directly via "update" on the website. Based on your household and location information it will generate a list + links to other services that require registartion (e.g. NHS GP listing, school finder, welfare).

A single update place for users looking to change the info gov have on them. Our MVP is on moving house.

We'd like to:

- make it easier to update info that may change
- increased quality of data
- make it easier to view the data public sector has on you (longer term)
- make it easier for public sector to see recently updated data / data patterns (longer term)
- reduce duplicated data and effort
- reduce inconsistent or inaccurate data that gov has
- recommend next steps based on the updated data (e.g. GP registration if you've moved out of the local area)
- assign people that updated data might have relationship to or affect (e.g. children)

We know @leedsgovjam are doing something similar and we're hoping to join forces and play through the interwebs. If you'd like to join us contact us @rosebotanic @_zuz_k
