Youth Unemployment - The issue?

youth unemployment process research development how to solve scenarious

Youth Unemployment:

· Social impact - crime

· Economic impact – 'drain' on society

· Health – poor quality lifestyle causes future problems again expensive for the State

Why is youth unemployment so high?

· Not enough jobs

· Poor economic climate – recession

· Government has limited ability to stimulate the economy due to lack of resources

How do we solve this?

“unemployed skills apprenticeship program” and “Unemployed entrepreneurship apprenticeship program”

“Unemployed skills apprenticeship program”

· Unemployed gathered and profiled

· Sorted into groups that are diverse in culture but have similar interests

· Commence study and skills sessions and groups introduced to mentor

· Commence voluntary work (lunch and transport provided) – voluntary work does not impact on social security payments

· After completion of 18 months in the program, youth are offered a job in private enterprise or government or NGO.

“Unemployed entrepreneurship apprenticeship program”

· Unemployed gathered and profiled

· Sorted into groups that are diverse in culture but have similar interests

· Commence study and skills sessions and groups introduced to mentor

· Commence a new micro business - voluntary work does not impact on social security payments until they become profitable

· After completion of 18 months in the program, youth are either self-sufficient, offered a job in private enterprise or government or NGO.

Outcomes:

· Youth cost government less

· Increased productivity

· Lower crime

· Increased government labor resources

· Lower national unemployment

· Improved fiscal position for government.
