It's OVER.

on Fri, 06/07/2013 - 02:37
It's over, folks. It's over.
The first Global GovJam was unique - a global, volunteer-led innovation session which mixed citizens, public servants and innovation specialists in more than 30 cities on 5 continents. No one has ever done that before, and, it was a success!
At the end of the Jam, around 650 people in over 30 cities had produced more than 120 projects, uploaded here...
But the projects are not even half of it. The buzz on Twitter and Facebook, the serious conversations, the crazy videos, the valuable insights - this was a true Jam.  And that is all down to you. You made it happen!
We're tired, frazzled and after Jamming ourselves we need a rest. But we have to thank everyone who made this incredible event possible.  Those amazing local hosts - some of them experienced hands, some of them complete beginners - who took the time and had the courage to set up these amazing events. The sponsors who gave us spaces, food, drink, tools, and advice. And everyone who just helped out in the good spirit of the Jam. You are fantastic!
Thanks to every single Jammer who gave up their time to help each other rock the world of public service - for the good of every citizen. Whether you are a gov worker, an innovation professional, or "just" a passionate citizen, you gave the Jam the magic mix which made it unique. There is nothing like you. You are the Jam.
This Jam was extra-special for Markus and Adam, because for the first time at a Global Jam we were truly able to Jam ourselves. We need to say some special thanks to the people who made that possible. Thanks to the warm and generous Perth Jammers and Hosts for bringing us here and being patient when we occasionally were distracted by "Global". And a huge, massive, personal thanks to the Team who took over the GlobalHQ technical support and social media task, allowing us to play. Maria in Munich, Laura in LA, Nihal in Bangalore, Susanne in Nuremberg, Marina in Sydney - you were jam-tastic. To Stefan in Nuremberg, get well soon!  And to the Big Three of Saleh in Tehran, Sven in Nuremberg and Natasche in Sao Paulo - you just blew us away. Such professionalism, energy, smarts, fun! You all did a far better job than we ever did, and you let us relax and enjoy the Jam. Thank you for ever!
Look at all those projects online! But don't forget to look at all the other outcomes of the Jam - the new skills, attitudes, and energy you have. The  friendships and contacts - tested by Jam - you have made. The other projects and initiatives which will come later.  And of course the knowledge that you CAN do this, you can beat impossible deadlines, work like crazy and still have fun.
Thank you again.  All of you. YOU ARE THE JAM.
Let's do it again in November at Global Sustainability Jam, where we will have just 48 hours to save the world.
It's over, we're worn out. We all need to sleep.
GlobalHQ out. JAM OFF!
Markus & Adam.
PS Oh, just one more thing... The next JamJam - the meeting of dedicated Jammers who want to make a better Jam - will be held in the beautiful city of.....
